13
"Listen, House of David"
[Isaiah] retorted, " is it not enough for you to treat men as
helpless that you also treat my God as helpless?
14
Assuredly, my Lord will give you a
sign of His own accord! Look,
the
young woman is with child
and about to give
birth
to a son.
Let her name him
Immanuel
|
13
Then
Isaiah said" Listen well, you royal family of David! You aren't
satisfied to exhaust my patience. You exhaust the patience of God as well!
14
All right then, the
Lord Himself will choose the sign.
Look!
The Virgin will conceive a
child!
She
will
give birth to a son and will
call him Immanuel - 'God is with us.'
|
20
As he considered this, he fell asleep, and the angel of the
Lord appeared in a dream. "Joseph, son of David" the angel said,
"do not be afraid to go ahead with your marriage to Mary. For the
child within her has been conceived by the Holy Spirit.
21
And
she will have a
son, and you are to name him
Jesus, for
he will save his people from their sins. [Jesus means "The Lord
saves"]
22
All of this happened to fulfill the Lord's message through
his prophet:
23
"Look!
The virgin will conceive a child! She
will give birth to a son, and he
will be called Immanuel (meaning God is with us)."
|
5
For a child has been born to us, a son has been given to us. And
authority has settled on his shoulders. He has been named "The Mighty
God
is
planning grace; The
Eternal Father,
a peaceable ruler -
6 a
token of
abundant authority and of peace
without limit upon David's throne and kingdom,
that it may be
firmly
established in justice and equity now and evermore.
|
6 For a child is born to us, a son
is given to us. And
the
government will rest on his shoulders. These will be the royal titles;
Wonderful Councilor, Prince of Peace.
7 His ever expanding,
peaceful government will never end.
He
will rule forever with fairness and justice from the throne of his
ancestor David. The passionate commitment of the Lord almighty will
guarantee this!
|
31
You will become pregnant and have a son, and you are to name him Jesus.
32 He will be
very great and will be called the
Son of the Most High. And
the
Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David.
33
And he will reign over Israel forever; his kingdom will never end!" 34 Mary
asked the angel, "But how can I have a baby? I am a virgin."
35
the angel replied, " The Holy Sprit will come upon you, and the power of the
Most High will overshadow you.
So the baby
born to you will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God".
